MISSION

The Seward Parks & Recreation Department facilitates recreation, education, social and cultural activities for the growing community and visitors.  The department staff is professionally committed to protecting, improving and promoting City of Seward parklands and natural resources.  The department strives to improve the quality of life and the physical and mental wellbeing of individuals through positive opportunities.  Our goal is to provide "Mountains of Recreation" to all residents and visitors to Seward, Alaska.

CAMPGROUNDS

  • Mission: Provide safe exceptional camping opportunities and creating great memories.

      PARK MAINTENANCE

  • Mission: Maintain park facilities for the safety and enjoyment of all users. Preserve, improve, promote the city's natural resources, parkland, and recreational opportunities for current and future generations.

      SPORTS & RECREATION

      Mission: The S&R Division strives to provide and facilitate recreational, fitness, and creative activities for our community members and visitors.  Sports & Rec strives to improve the quality of life and the physical and mental well-being of every community member. Through positive recreational, fitness opportunities and partnerships.  We assess and answer community recreation needs.  Sports and Recreation serves as a liaison between AVTEC students and the community through sports, creative arts and social activities.

        YOUTH PROGRAMS

  • Mission:
    • Engage youth in lifelong recreation through programs that are accessible, engaging and developmentally-appropriate.
  • Youth Center
    • Operated by the Boys and Girls Club under a partnership with the city.

Provides comprehensive programming for Seward youths, K-12th.
