In 2012, Alaska Waste was awarded a contract with the City of Seward for the collection and disposal of garbage, rubbish, and waste in Seward, and this contract was extended for three more years in 2019.
Alaska Waste provides solid waste and recycling services to Alaska customers, as well as bear-awareness programs and services. They use the Kenai Peninsula Borough (KPB) Solid Waste - Seward Transfer Facility located at 3200 Dimond Blvd, Seward, AK 99664 as their landfill site. This landfill is open Monday - Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
Household waste is deposited in the transfer building and transported to the Central Peninsula Landfill (CPL) in Soldotna. Wastes not transported are stockpiled in staging areas until they can be buried, burned, or hauled off site. Materials restricted, or prohibited, at this landfill are hazardous, industrial, medical, and special wastes, such as asbestos, ash, fluorescent bulbs, and paint. Please separate your waste into these four categories before disposal: Construction/Demolition Debris, Metals, Wood/Land Clearing Debris, and Household/Mixed Solid Waste.
