The City Clerk is hired by the City Council as an at-will contract employee and works for the City Council. Responsibilities include:

  • Custodian of the city seal and the official records of the city
  • Publishes ordinances, resolutions and all legislative history for the city
  • Administers elections
  • Acts as parliamentarian for all city council meetings
  • Works independently for the citizens and the city council
  • Notarizes and attests the City Manager's signature on all contracts
  • Administers oaths as required by law
  • Ensures following of the Open Meetings Act
  • Acts as liaison between the City Council, Administration and the Public
