Rooms for Public Meetings & Events

The Seward Community Library & Museum has two meeting spaces and two Shushbooths available for public use upon approval. Other spaces may be considered upon request.

Community Room

Located on the ground floor (museum level), this larger room is 1168 sq. ft. with an occupancy limit of 75 sitting and 100 standing, and a large drop-down projection screen. A podium, rolling white board, 79 chairs, 20 eight foot tables and several smaller tables are available in the adjoining storage room to configure the room as needed. A small adjoining kitchenette is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, small and commercial size coffeemakers, hot water dispenser, hot water pot, two sinks, hot water tap, large garbage can and vacuum.

Meeting Room

Located on the second floor (library level), this smaller room is 507 sq ft. with an occupancy limit of 25 sitting and 35 standing. A conference table seats 8. Additional tables maybe set up as needed. It is equipped with a large screen television, drop-down projector screen, marker boards, counter space with sink, coffeemaker, hot water pot, and microwave. Online With Libraries (OWL) video conferencing services for this room require at least a week's notice to schedule.

Both rooms have high quality speakerphone capabilities.

Some equipment may be available for overnight check-out to local patrons in good standing. Call for more information.

Shushbooths

Shushbooths are innovative, soundproof booths that provide a quiet and private space for a variety of uses. Whether you need a secluded area for a confidential meeting, a distraction-free zone for focused work, test taking or study time, or a comfortable space for telehealth consultations, or phone conversations Shushbooths offer the perfect solution. We have 2 large booths available, (max. occupancy per unit 2), located on the second floor.

Each booth offers modern amenities including ventilation, lighting, and power outlets.
These units may be requested up to 2-weeks in advance and are limited to 2 hours of use, unless prior approval has been arranged with appropriate staff. Use of these booths are free; units are locked when not in use.

Alaska OWL Program

Video conferencing services provided by the Alaska Online With Libraries (OWL) Program. Please contact us about setting up a free OWL Zoom event for a meeting or presentation that may accommodate 100+ attendees and can take place in the library and/or wherever you have sufficient internet access.
