Home School Book Bunch

Join us for a special Home School Book Bunch Wednesday, February 26 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm with special guest Dr. Amy Bishop at the Seward Community Library Museum's downstairs Community Room.

This month's topic is Women & Girls in Science!

About Dr. Amy Bishop:
"I am an Assistant Research Scientist at the Alaska SeaLife Center. I study how marine top-predators (sharks, sea lions, sea birds) move through and interact with their environment, and I seek to apply my research towards sustainable use of marine resources. I have worked locally with all of these animals in Resurrection Bay and the Kenai Fjords region since 2009, but am originally from Chicago (go Cubs!).
In my talk, I will be sharing insights from my ‘unexpected journey’ of becoming a scientist from my early love of art, to my travels around the world and how I found my path."

Following her presentation, we will participate in a Nature Journaling activity!

As always, bring your current reads and silly jokes or riddles to share! This program is designed with upper-age elementary children in mind, but all ages are welcome with adult supervision. Those present will choose the next month's theme.

For any questions, email Amanda Lyon, Program Coordinator at alyon@cityofseward.net

Book Bunch meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month, October through April (excluding December) from 2:00 -3:00 pm in the downstairs Community Room.
